The Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles has ordered that the physician’s license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of California shall be subject to the following restrictions/limitations :

The physician is the subject of criminal charges in the State of California related to possible non-therapeutic prescribing that resulted in the death of a patient. The physician had his license to practice medicine in the State of California temporarily restricted in the State of California as a condition of bond due to the on-going criminal investigation.

Action Taken:

The physician has entered into an Agreed Order of Restriction with the Texas Medical Board subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. The physician is restricted from using or administering any anesthetic agent that is normally administered by an anesthesiologist including but not limited to Propofol or any other heavy sedative medications.
  2. The physician shall not personally prescribe or administer any form of general sedation to patients.
  3. The physician shall not be prohibited from prescribing, administering or utilizing other medications including but not limited to pain medication, anti-anxiety medication or local or topical anesthetics.
  4. The physician is permitted to be part of a medical team providing Propofol or other heavy or general anethetic as long as the physician does not personally administer or prescribe them.
  5. The physician shall not be permitted to supervise and delegate prescriptive authority to physician assistants and advanced practice nurses and to supervise surgical assistants.
  6. This Agreed Order shall remain in effect until there is a final resolution of the criminal allegations in the State of California or until the Texas Medical Board takes other action to modify the Agreed Order.
